  1. 1. Physical wellbeing is important because health and happiness go hand in hand. In order to live life to the fullest and enjoy it to the max, it is especially important for us to have a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

    2. As an experiment related to physical wellbing, I tried having fruits and a glass of milk for breakfast before my morning today, which I usually go through without eating anything. It made a big difference. I was more energetic, more productive and in a much better mood compared to previous classes.I think I'll try to wake up 10 minutes earlier from now on to make sure that I have breakfast every day. :)

    3. As an experiment related to my Commited way of Being, I decided that I will try to put more effort into my sanction prescence, especially when having a conversation with people. It specifically is less embarressing now that I don't have to ask peole to repeat what they said over and over again. This particular experiment wasn't easy at all, since I think I kind of developed a habit but I will work harder to change it.

    4. One thing that I engaged myself in last weekend that has made me smile was a volunteer opportunity with a women's shelter place in Minneapolis. The shelter is dedicated to provide women in crisis or transition with a stable environment and the opportunity to explore options for their future. We prepared a three course dinner buffet for them, which actually turned out to be quite good actually, according to the women that is :)

  2. 1. Physical wellbeing is important because most of time healthy mind can present in healthy body. Except for very few strong willed people who have healthy mental status despite of the physical wellbeing, I think the body is closely connected to mind. Therefore, to be happy and stay healthy mentally, it is important to stay in healthy physically.
    2. It was almost magical because after we have talked about the physical wellbeing last Friday, my friend called me to go to the yoga place and I did, surprisingly. Also, I have eaten grapes and salads so much, very unusual since I'm rather very carnivorous. I enjoyed eating more greens and that made my stomach happy so I think I was pretty close to stay healthy for few days!
    3. An experiment related to my Committed Way of Being was to ask how people are doing around me and also to express how grateful I am to have such wonderful people around me by noticing a little details from my friends. I don't know this is completely relevant or not but for example, I went to the play with my host family last weekend. I usually make up the excuse not to waste my time in other things but I committed myself to explore the opportunity that was offered by others and I was grateful to be with them. Although the play wasn't much of success, it was amazing to spend time with people whom I love and didn't realize how much I love them to be around with me.

:) something that has made me smile was a phone call from my friend.
She is my friend from the high school, now attending Purdue. I was just so happy to talk to her about the similar life we are going through in totally different places. We shared so much of similar emotion that made me smile and sad since it wasn't all happy emotion. However, I felt supported from just this one call and it made me smile all week.

  3. 1.Being physical wellbeing is definitely the most important and basic thing in our life, because it lays the foundation of everything we do. Without health, we lose the right to enjoy our life. Nor can we build any career or future on it. A simple example will be that when I have a cold, I lose my appetite and cannot even have a good sleep, which means it robbed the best parts in my life… Besides, always remember there are someone cares for your health more than yourself. Just do not make them worry about you, especially when you are thousands of miles away from them and being alone.
2.Since I said bye to the fried chips and dry burgers in the dorm, I started to cook by myself and tried to balance my diet. I persuaded myself to have more vegetables and less meat. It was hard, but I made it (because I am not good at cooking meat…). I tried to get up ten minutes earlier every morning to prepare myself a warm breakfast and a great start of a whole day. Another meaningful progress I made this week is I start to eat carrots! Maybe someone has been eating carrots all his life, but for me, it is a difficult thing to accept since I can recognize carrots. They taste not that awful now. I also put swimming in my schedule, twice a week. Honestly, I do not feel a big difference physically in doing these, but I do feel happy when I know I am taking good care of myself and on the way of being healthier.
3.The experiment I did related to Committed Way of Being is to be on time and ready every day. I put it in the first place because I have already realized it as a big issue in my life. To be frank, it was hard to achieve both and I did not do well this week. When I was prepared for my JOUR class, I was late for 4 minutes; and when I was 10 minutes earlier for my OMS class, I forgot to do the reading. It is tough, but I am working on it. I have faith to be better at least.

  4. 1. Why do you think some people are vigorous, achieving more goals and accomplishing more things in order to achieve their dreams? I would say it is because of their physical wellbeing. That’s not because they were born with better health. No! Just consider real examples of Lio Messi (soccer player), A. Suvorov (Russian general), and others, who had weak health in childhood, and became most healthy people in the world, and also most famous. These people are always very smiling, energetic, smart, good looking and with fire in their eyes. Everyone can be like them. Just change your mind!

    2. Long times before of our first meeting at “Culture at the Core”, I’ve started my own experiment – spending 30 minutes every day to do morning exercises. I’ve noticed huge changes in my life. Just few of them – I become more productive, very cheerful, self-confident, and most important I improved relationships with my friends. Also, I began to notice new opportunities of health improvement and set new goals to improve my physical wellbeing. That was beginning of a new chapter of my life.

    3. OK, my CWB was curiosity. And I said to myself, “every time you’ll make a decision (any decision!), you’ll ask yourself – What if…?” What if I’ll make my homework one week earlier? What if I’ll behave like I’m richest person in the world? What if I’ll actively participate in class discussions? And so on, I tried to be curious about doing usual things in unusual manner. Also, I tried to do things that I never did! How do you think, what I’ve noticed? My life, my mind, and everything have changed. I’ve never done my homework so early, I’ve never actively participated in class discussions, and now when I was curious about results of abnormal for me life, I began to compare my new decisions with my previous decisions, and I’ve noticed that now is better, now is more interesting. And right now I’m thinking, what if I’ll…:)

    4. A lot of smile and laugh brought me the tennis match with my friend. We’re not pro players, but we love to play this game. And this week we played the best match ever played between us. These points, these balls were so amazing and so funny sometimes, that we spent several minutes just laughing and discussing them. For example, after my strike ball was going to out, and my friend called it “out”, but ball fell down into the court because of the wind)). Sometimes we tried to copy Roger Federer’s amazing strikes, and of course we failed:)

  5. Let me start by saying that health is the most important aspect of life, because whenever health is absent, nothing can be right. physical wellbeing is one way to keep our bodies healthy and active. It is very important to remain active always because it helps reduce the level of stress in our body and also ensure that we are alert all the time. Without physicall wellbeing, we cannot maximise our potential because the body will feel weak and deprived of so many things.

2)The exercise that I tried this week was to use stairs in all the buildings that I happen to go to. I thought that it will be the most conviniencing exercise for me because I have to attend classes anyways and none of my classes is on the first floor of any building. It was really encouraging for me because I actually realised that I can do without the elevator. This was really difficult for me in the first two days but became fun on the third day because my mind was really tuned to it. I really like my new exercise because I don't have to set a side time to go and do it like I would if I were to go running or go to the gym. After trying this for a few days, I realised that I was becoming more active especially in my classes and despite the fact that some classes are naturally boring, I was able to make it without dosing off like i used to before. It is real fun and I would encourage all my friends to give the poor elavator a small break and use the STAIRS. You will be surprised that even the dullest class will turn out to be your favourate coz you can't just afford to sleep in a class after walking four stairs up to get there.

3)The experiment I created that was relating to my committed ways of being was to BE ACCOUNTABLE. The reason why I chose this experiment is because I realised that this is one area that I have not given much attention in the past. Many times, I have made promises which I never fullfilled, I have failled to honer my words and do as agreed and worst of all, I have always made up excuses to cover up my deeds instead of being accountable for what ever i did. Thanks so much to culture at the core because my life took a completly different turn after our meeting. For the past two weeks, I have tried to be accountable in all ways possible. I have tried to honer my words and without noticing it, my friends actually congratulated me for making it to our group discussion coz unlike before, where I could agree with them that i was going to make it only to let them down the last minute, this past 2 weeks was very
different. I made sure that i held my self responsible and always felt sorry whenever I failled someone. I am very happy that alot of my friends were able to appreciate me more and even much surprised at the way my friends were able to point out the new change in the way I relate with the.

  7. 1.Physical wellbeing is so much important because it could be seen as the core of everyone's life. If someone optimistic, hopeful and smile happily everyday, that not only he or she lives a wonderful life, he also can give happiness to others. In additional, there would be a harmony atmosphere around him and attract more and more people join this.
    2. I do the experiment to get the better well being by myself. As I believe the face comes from heart, I realize the importance of the effect of mood and self-encouragement. So every morning, when I struggle to wake up, I would smile to mirror and image the sweetest things of today. Also, do some slight exercise to activate every cells. This method bring a huge difference , when I found in my life, there is not only task to be finished, there are also pretty hidden beautiful things to be found by your personally.
    3. The experience related the Committed way of Being is keep myself being patient all the time.sometimes I am impatient of my parents, because I got bored with the same speech they give me everyday. However, before I lose my patience, I should remind myself, all my parents talking is from their love. Just because they love you, worry about you, and hope you be better, all in all are good for you. Not only to parents, to my friends, even strangers. I need to keep patience in my mind, and learn to think as others' points of view.

  8. 1. Without healthiness, everything else is just BULL-SHIT. Even if you are millionaire, you cannot buy your healthiness back. We can know around twenties, which is the perfect timing to store some energy for our aged time. If we are now exhausting our body now, we will suffer from illness when we are old. Then, it is too late to regret twenty years later.

    2. Well, I was very busy the last 2 weeks, with my tests, stuffs related to my club and preparation for interview. So, the first experiment for me is adjusting my sleeping hours. I used to sleep late and wake up late. So, when I woke up, it is around 11 or even later, which means half of my day is gone, and during late nights, I am exhausted to study. Therefore, there is no only harmful for my health, and it did not help my study’s effort. I noticed when I slightly changed my timetable to sleep earlier, wake up earlier. My study is more efficient, because now I have extra study time every day.

    3. It connects to “be on time and ready”. Now I do not have to worry about whether I will be late for my part-time job, because I am getting used to getting up early (which means around 9:30). Moreover, I prepared better for my study due to the increasing available time for my study. Furthermore, since I can finish my work earlier, I can now enjoying my extra hours which make me feel good to participate in events other than study.

  9. physical wellbeing is important to us because if we keep our body healthy, so will our mind be. but unfortunately this week i could not do anything to improve the quality of my physical wellbeing because of the class work that i have been doing. i am feeling the side effects of not paying attention to my physical needs.. such as meals and sleep. i hope that anyone who reads this comment, will learn from my mistakes and do at least the basic requirements. eat good, healthy meals and get at least 5 hours of of sleep for a day.

  10. 1 Physical wellbeing is important because it is a way to help you to achieve success and happiness. No matter how much money you owned, if you do not have a healthy body, you won't have a chance to to enjoy what the money created to you . And a good physical wellbeing is the way to lead to a healthy body, so that's why is important.
2 Doing sports is a good way to develop to good physical wellbeing.
3 Due to the fact that I do not like to do sports and I had a lot of work pressure, I prefer the way to sleep and listen to music as my own way to create physical wellbeing.

  11. 1. Physical wellbeing is essential to keep your body, mind and soul in a good state to engage physically, spiritually and mentally.

2.I set of from home an hour ahead of my schedule each day and walk instead of taking the bus. I feel very healthy, my mind is always alert and I don't get tired easily like I used to.I am also trying to cut down on my soda intake and replace it with water. Not easy but I'm trying!

3.For my CWB I focused on being on time and ready. For this experiment I set my clock to be 20 mins ahead of time for all my appointments. This allowed me enough time to be there and relax before the appointment. I feel better in control as I do not rush and get anxious about being late. I also get enough time to do any last minute preparation before the appointment.

  12. 1.Physical wellbeing is not only about looking good, it indicates the condition of one's body. A good physical wellbeing keeps you from the hospital and improve your mental health.

2.I tried doing workout every other day, and that actually makes difference. What I've noticed is that after I got myself sweating, I feel more positive towards my life and I mentally feel more energetic than before, it's amazing how good it feels and I believe long-term benefits are being accumulated.

3.My experiment is to set up a schedule for everyday and stick to it. What I notice is that it feels like I got more time than before. I conciously avoid any time wasted on things that are not pre-planed, and that helps me to live a more regulated live, so that I don't stay late at night which is eating up my healthy and I feel more energetic during the day.

  13. Goodness gracious....Everyone's definition is just so discrete and informative. Well, i don't know if we're required to be formal when it comes to writing our opinions. So, for now; I'll just convey my thoughts in a rather "chill and laid back way".

In regards to my definition of what constitutes the idea of physical wellbeing, i think that to a certain extend; physical wellbeing does play a vital role in one's life. However, judging by the current state of me being supposedly "busy" with life, homework, midterms, parties etc. I would say that for the time being, physical wellbeing is not detrimental; at least based on my personal point of view.

When I publicly announced to the entire class that my first week's resolution is to exercise; something in the back of my head was screaming: "hell, yeah. you are so going to fail!" and believe it or not. I failed. Yes, i did not exercise. Yes, i took no initiative when it comes to spending that extra one hour to warm up those muscles and organs. And yes, it was mid term and assignment week so i was busy busy and busy.

During the weekend of the week 1 after the first class, i decided to broaden my definition of word "exercise":- instead of going to the gym, i took charge of cleaning the house for the entire week. Oh god! What a bad decision, vacuuming wasn't fun, scrubbing the toilet bowl and bathtub killed my back and the kitchen floor was just terrible. Yet, i did not complain. I suffered in silence. On the other hand, my roommate was super happy.

As days passed by, my attitude towards those dreaded house-chores changed. Maybe I still dislike cleaning the kitchen, but i totally feel in love with vacuuming the floor. And the reason for that is because i just realize that the constant action of pushing and pulling that huge machine *it's an old vacuum* actually tightens up my biceps! My arms aren't that soft anymore. Yes!! My experiment actually works.

  14. 1. Physical wellbeing is a health condition of body. Personally, if people are physical wellbeing, they are able to do everything they would like to do instead of lying on the bed and eat medicine every day. Standing at social developing point, people who are physical wellbeing can create more values for others. Therefore, having a health body is very important.
    2. I believe choosing the health way of living is the most coefficient thing. For example, we need to eat both vegetables and meat. We should do sports at least every week. We should keep regular hours. All of them are health ways.
    3. I am the person who likes sleeping very much. When I feel tired or uncomfortable, I will go to bed as soon as possible and have a sweet sleep! That is very useful for me. When I wake up, I am full of energy!

  15. 1. Being healthy is essential even though not everybody is living a healthy life. We give up to delicious food, ignoring how much calories it contains. We let excises go because we need to do something else "important". When we affected by a disease, when we cannot could put on skinny jeans easily when shopping, we regret and start to realize "I have to build up my body". However, when you recover from ill, or find a pair of lose pants, we surrender to unhealthy living again. I gain weight every time I am at the United States.

2.I tried to commute by walking and I walk fast. I tried hard to go to bed before 11PM. A good sleep make the whole day different.

    3. Pay attention to what has heart and meaning. When someone starts to realize that the world is not created for he/she alone, he/she is about to grow up. As a product of one-child policy, I used to take people's caring as guaranteed. I felt comfortable being taken care of by others, seldom did I give back to others.

I want to make a change. I start to notice that everyone is in need of help. When I feel low and the world is turing back at me, others may have the same feeling. Why don't you smile to others when you can, why don't you lend a hand when you can, why don't you listen and honor others' s opinions when you can.

I used to believe in astrology and pick friends according to their Constellations. But now, I believe that if I really care about others and create some value for them, they will be nice and return mercy, no matter they are Leo or Sagittarius.

  16. 1. My physical condition is crucial to my emotional or mental condition.
    2. I began to run in January, 2009. At first, I could run only half a mile per day. After continuing to run at least three days per week, I now can run three miles at once. Accordingly, I also feel more confident than I did two years ago.
    3. I have kept “Speak your truth” in mind since our first meeting. Not to disturb one’s emotion, I tend not to speak what I really think about the person. However, I only found my inability to communicate with others and frustration resulting in the lack of heart-to-heart conversation. Therefore, I began to talk a bit bluntly but honestly with my partner. Despite uneasiness at the beginning of our conversation, we felt better to each other after all. :)

  17. I know physical condition is a very basic requirment to sucsess. I'm good at some sports, like swimming and skiing. However, these days, I alwanys too busy to do exercise regularly. So, I'm trying to walk to my class everyday. Also, I try to sleep at least 7 hours a day. When I sleep well, I can study well. Sometimes, sleeping for 7 hours is impossible because there is too much homework and assignments. Although my life is busy and so tiring, I avoid drinking coffee. I know many people drink coffee to keep awake, but coffee make me feel dizzy. I drink black tea to keep myself energetic. Tea is very good for health and it contains many kinds of vitamines. I eat healthy food. And I don't eat junk food. I cook for my self and keep my diet as healthy as possible. I love fruits and vegetables.

  18. It's been quite challenging coming back from ankle injury, a tight schedule of exams and impending serious cold to be back at full fitness but I am giving it my best shot.
And I have to say, that is what counts, giving it your best shot. I am still yet to buy my tennis gear but I have my outdoor activity gloves and I am enabled
Looking forward to seeing everyone today and hope to get better with my workouts now that I can.

  19. 1. What is important about physical wellbeing?
I will say consistence and consciousness. It's only going to work when people really continue exercising. And when people really pay attention to their physical well-being, they will commit more time on it.
    2. What experiment did you try related to physical wellbeing? What did you notice?
Mine is really easy. Just make a schedule, and commit to it. At the beginning, it might be a really easy workout, but you can add more weights on it as time goes and your body becomes "better!" I slept better when I continued to work out.
